Alumni Spotlight

Theresa A. Flury

Since her admission to the bar in 1992, Ms Flury has dedicated her life to serving those less fortunate. As a Public Defender in Dade and Leon counties, she represented thousands of indigent defendants. Also, while at the Leon County Public Defender's Office, she was the Supervising Attorney in the juvenile and felony divisions, as well as Lead Attorney for juveniles who had been direct filed to the adult criminal justice system.

Committed to public safety and a fair and responsive justice system, Ms. Flury was an Assistant State Attorney for nearly three years. During this time, she was lead prosecutor on hundreds of cases, including capital crimes involving children and adults.

In 2003, Ms. Flury was awarded the Florida Bar's Gerald T. Bennett Scholarship to attend an advanced advocacy course at Oxford University in London, England. She currently serves on the Governor's Children & Youth Cabinet and the Child Abuse Prevention and Permanency Advisory Counsel, the Multidisciplinary Dependency Court Improvement Panel, and the Florida Department of Children & Families Task Force on Fostering Success.

Ms. Flury graduated from Villanova University School of Law in Villanova, Pennsylvania. She lives in Leon County with her husband, the Honorable Ronald W. Flury, and their two children.
