The call to public service did not stop with the public defenders office for the following individuals:
Theresa A. Flury
Executive Director of the Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office
Appointed by Governor Crist December 22, 2008.
She is the second person to occupy the position.
Prior to her appointment, Ms. Flury was the Supervising Attorney in the Second Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem Office. In this role, she oversaw all aspects of the legal representation provided to nearly 600 abused and neglected children served by the Office. Additionally, she was instrumental in building strong alliances with the State Attorney and Public Defender Offices, members of the Parents' Bar and regional child advocacy organizations.

Judge Charles J. Kahn, Jr.
Florida First District Court of Appeal since June, 1991
former Chief Judge of the court.
Before his appointment to the court, he had a trial and appellate practice in Pensacola, Florida for 12 years. He received his B.A., cum laude, from Vanderbilt University in 1973, and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Florida in 1977. Judge Kahn has served on the education faculty of the Florida College of Advanced Judicial Studies, the Florida Conference of Circuit Judges, and the Florida Conference of County Judges. He has served as an adjunct professor of Professional Responsibility at the Florida State University College of Law. He recently served as president of the William H. Stafford American Inn of Court in Tallahassee, and is President-Elect of the First District Appellate American Inn of Court for 2009-2110.
